Reiki Session in London

A Reiki session is a holistic energy practice that accompanies your body and mind as they return to their own balance. In London I offer individual sessions face to face in my space in Marylebone, and online wherever in the world you may be. I am Hande Özerden, founder of Reiki Gaia and a Reiki Master with more than twenty years of practice; England was my home for many years, and it feels natural to share this work here again. You can read about where Reiki comes from and how this energy works on my What is Reiki page.

How Is a Reiki Session Done? What Happens in a Session?

London Reiki Master Hande Özerden giving a Reiki session outdoors in nature.

Every session begins with a conversation; together we listen to what you need that day. Then I invite your body to soften with the sound of quartz crystal bowls, and afterwards I position my hands on or just above your energy centres, channelling the Reiki energy. Throughout the session I work over the chakra centres, supporting the balance of your energy; your only task is to allow yourself. Reiki embraces the person as a whole — in their physical, emotional, mental and spiritual layers.

And it is not a single doorway but a path that deepens: with each session we travel a little further inward, into the quiet corners of the soul where weights you may have carried all your life, often without ever knowing they were there, are finally seen, softened and released. Layer by layer, what does not belong to you begins to leave. And when the root of a pattern reaches deeper than words can go, we turn to subconscious work, which I describe just below.

If there is a physical complaint I especially recommend working face to face; for emotional and spiritual healing, distance Reiki works through the spirit body and knows no distance. And for those who wish to learn this art themselves, everything is on my Reiki training London page.

Subconscious Programming in a Reiki Session

There are patterns that survive every resolution we make against them. We see them clearly, we promise ourselves change, and still the old thought, the old feeling, the old reaction finds its way back — because it is not living in the conscious mind at all, but beneath it. Where this is the case, I bring in the Sei He Ki, the Reiki symbol that unlocks the door of the subconscious. Working through that door, patterns of thought, emotion and energy that have resisted years of willpower can be transformed with a speed and gentleness that conscious effort alone rarely reaches. I tell the story of this work in my article “Subconscious Programming with Reiki”.

Holistic Healing, the Natural Way

Long before the body speaks, discomfort tends to whisper in the emotions and in the spirit; when it goes unheard there, it slowly finds its way into the flesh. Reiki therefore listens to the source rather than the symptom — and when the deeper layers are tended in time, the body may never need to carry them at all.

The nature photographs you see on this page came from my own camera, gathered over years of walking with the earth. Gaia — Mother Earth — is not only part of my studio’s name; she is the way I see. Nature never forces its healing, and neither does Reiki.

Reiki’s Soft yet Powerful Way of Healing

Reiki is powerful, but it never forces. Like the unhurried turning of the seasons it moves slowly, surely and lastingly. It is known as one of the energy practices least likely to cause a healing crisis; after sessions, most of my clients describe a distinct lightness and stillness.

Reiki as Support Alongside Medical Treatment

Reiki sits gently alongside any medical treatment and never interferes with it. While your doctors do their work, Reiki opens a quiet space where the body can rest and its own capacity for repair is strengthened. Like seeds carried on the wind: entrust your healing intention to the air, and you will be surprised how far it travels.

Meeting Stress

Most of my clients come to me with a crowded mind — in a city that moves at London’s pace, hardly surprising. Reiki’s calming effect makes the sources of daily stress easier to carry and lifts the quality of life. For those working at high tempo, sessions become a true space of renewal, a place to gather energy again.

Opening the Way for Your Creativity

Each of us arrives in this world with gifts to give; yet most of us are taught at an early age that those gifts are not to be discovered. As energetic blockages dissolve, those suppressed channels open again. I have watched it in my clients and students over and over: one returns to writing, another to music, another to a dream postponed for years. So — what is waiting in your dusty box? I wrote about the barriers in front of creativity, and how Reiki transforms them, in my article “Discover Your Creativity with Reiki“.

Freedom from Emotional Hunger and Addictions

When a person cannot freely express their creativity and emotions, they often try to suppress the energy that builds up inside them; this is exactly where addictions can step in. Eating episodes, smoking, the endless screen… the visible habit differs, but the source is so often the same: an emotional hunger trying to be filled. Reiki works not with the symptom but with the hunger itself; as you reconnect with your own essence, the need to fill yourself from outside quietly fades. I wrote about how Reiki can support healthy weight loss and freedom from addictions in my article “Emotional Hunger and Addiction”.

Self-Discovery and Clearing Energetic Blockages

In the healing process you come into contact with your inner world and begin to notice the places where your energy has become blocked. Like a stream softening the stones in its path over time, when the energy begins to flow again the emotional weights dissolve too, and you start to look at life with new eyes.

Reiki and Meditation

Reiki flows naturally into meditation, and meditation deepens Reiki; access to the spiritual dimensions eases, the mind becomes clear. In my sessions I weave the two together as one.

When Can Reiki Support You?

The question I am asked most often is whether Reiki is good for this or for that. The word in the blank keeps changing: anxiety, depressive periods, the grief that follows losing a loved one, separation, fears, intrusive thoughts, scattered attention, emotional eating… My answer is always the same: Reiki makes no diagnosis and never replaces medical or psychological treatment — and it works with the energetic load itself that lies beneath all of these states.

On the emotional layer, it accompanies grief, separation and long-carried sorrow as they move into flow within a safe space. On the mental layer, it opens room for anxiety, fears and looping thoughts to loosen, for the mind to remember how to be silent. With deep relaxation the nervous system settles and attention gathers. On the physical layer, it can be received as a complement to every form of medical treatment; it supports the body’s capacity for self-repair and its overall resilience.

It is also supportive in eating patterns rooted in emotional hunger and in healthy weight processes.

Whatever your situation, I shape the session around your need; if you have ongoing treatment, we plan the process to accompany it. You can read the experiences of the people I have worked with on the Reiki reviews page.

Sound Healing with Quartz Crystal Bowls in the Reiki Session

An important part of my sessions belongs to sound. The vibration of the quartz crystal bowls prepares the body for deep release before the Reiki begins; as the resonance spreads, the mind falls silent by itself. You can find the details of this work on the Sound Healing London page.

Reiki is not a religion, and it asks for no belief. It is a spiritual practice that lives in peace with every faith and every worldview; all you bring is an intention for your own healing, and the energy carries the rest. Frequently Asked Questions

How many minutes does a Reiki session last?

Allow between an hour and an hour and a half; the exact length follows your need and the theme we are working with that day.

First we hold an in-depth opening conversation, and it grows deeper with every session, following what you carry back towards its roots — sometimes all the way to childhood. Where it is needed, the Sei He Ki symbol opens the door of the subconscious so that long-settled patterns of thought and feeling can shift. When the conversation finds its natural end you lie down comfortably; the quartz bowls sound first, the Reiki hand positions follow, and by working over the chakra centres your energy is balanced and supported.

That depends on you and on the theme we are working with. Some of my clients feel eased after a single session; in some situations I suggest a few sessions, and the process deepens with each one. It is always planned personally, around you.

Anyone carrying stress, a tired mind, heavy emotions, physical discomfort or a sense of being energetically out of balance can benefit. No belief is required, and there is no age limit.

Yes. Reiki is not bound by physical distance; wherever you are in the world, we can meet online. I describe how it works on the distance Reiki page.

Reiki offers is deep relaxation that helps the nervous system settle; in anxious and low periods many of my clients notice a clear sense of lightness afterwards. If you are already receiving treatment, we simply plan the sessions around it.

Reiki can safely accompany any medical treatment, giving the body room to rest and supporting its own repair; your medical care always remains at the centre.
