Distance Reiki Healing

Distance Reiki healing, also known as distant, remote or online Reiki, is an individual session in which you receive Reiki energy in your own space, wherever you are in the world. Reiki energy is not bound by physical distance: I may be in Istanbul while you are in London, in Berlin or simply in your own room a few streets away. I offer distance sessions in English, Spanish or Turkish. How Does an Online Distance Reiki Session Work?

At the agreed time in your time zone, I call you by video or by phone. First, just as in my face-to-face sessions, we have an in-depth opening conversation: together we listen to what you need and, if something is troubling you, we look at where it comes from. There does not have to be a problem at all; we can also look at where you are on your path of personal growth and decide together how I can accompany you. My role is to hold up a light, a mirror, so you can become more aware of your relationship with yourself.

When our conversation is over, you lie down in a comfortable position. Using the distance Reiki symbols, I begin sending you this high-vibration energy of love and light, which moves beyond the limits of time and space. The Reiki part of the session usually lasts between 45 minutes and an hour.

After their distance sessions, my clients describe the same experiences they report after face-to-face sessions: deep relaxation, a restful, meditative state, new insights, emotions starting to flow, support in releasing trauma and a feeling of freedom. As with a face-to-face session, the effects stay with you for a while and support your healing in the days that follow. Research points the same way: in a 2023 study with frontline healthcare workers in the United Kingdom, four 20-minute distance Reiki sessions on consecutive days were followed by a significant fall in stress, anxiety and pain, and by better wellbeing and sleep.

For people without a physical complaint, distance Reiki is just as powerful as a face-to-face session on the emotional, mental and spiritual bodies. When a complaint has already settled into the physical body, distance Reiki still supports you; but Reiki given close to the body works more strongly and more quickly, so in that case I recommend a face-to-face session.

Distant Healing with Reiki: We Begin to Believe in Miracles!

Natural laws allow us to send energy over great distances. The way energy is sent during a distance Reiki healing session rests on these same laws.

When the person who is to receive the healing is not with us, this method lets us go beyond place and time and send Reiki energy to that person or to ourselves: to the past, the future or the present.

That person may be in another city or on another continent. We can even send Reiki energy to several people at the same time.

Distance Reiki and the Akashic Records

By sending distance Reiki healing energy we can also reach the Akashic Records. The Akashic Records are a spiritual concept linked with the imprints we are believed to carry from this life or from other lives. Through them we can also bring healing to the traumas and the karma we carry from this life or from other lives. Reiki helps us recognise ways of living that do not suit us, see what new options are available and understand how to make those changes in our lives.

The traces of these ways of living can gather in the body, in the emotions and in the soul: phobias, fears, sleepless nights, a sadness that never quite lifts… Reiki works with the energy that lies beneath them.

The Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen symbol is activated in us with the Usui Tibetan Reiki Level 2 attunement, and with it we can cross every boundary and send Reiki far away.

On the emotional and spiritual bodies, Reiki sent from a distance is as powerful as the Reiki we give when the person is right beside us and our hands are close to their body. The same is not true for the physical body, however.

This is because the healing energy we send from afar first works its way through the emotional and spiritual bodies, the invisible ones lying furthest out from the body, and only what remains of the energy reaches the physical body at the end.

We can also send Reiki healing energy to wars, natural disasters, hospitals, prisons and to other situations, places and events like these.

What a sense of freedom that brings! When I was little, I used to think about the children dying of hunger in Africa and feel utterly helpless. Knowing there was nothing I could do broke my heart.

With Reiki there is always something we can do. From our hearts, our hands and our energy bodies, using Reiki’s powerful sacred geometry symbols, we can reach even the farthest places. We can send the energy of Love and Healing, “at the very least”, or should I say, “at the very most”!

Sending Reiki Healing Energy to the Future or the Past

We can also send Reiki healing energy to the past or to the future. When we send it to the past, the aim is to bring healing to what we experienced then, such as a trauma or a painful memory, and to heal the effect it still has on us today. We can do this during a Reiki session by stating the date of the event, if we remember it, or by visualising what happened. I have shared how I use Reiki to work with the wounds we carry from childhood in my article on inner child work with Reiki.

When we send Reiki to a future event, if we have a job interview or an exam coming up, for example, we name the place and the date of that event, or any detail we feel is right, in the prayer we say before sending the distance healing.

The purpose of sending Reiki to the future is to be able to use our full potential in that moment, to ease our tension and to soften our reactions to everything else that day may bring.

We can also do Reiki for our wishes, material or spiritual, for the things we are aiming for or would like to have. What we must not forget in that case is to say in our prayer: “… may it come about in harmony with the balance of the universe.”

That is what “in harmony with the balance of the universe” means: we wish for it to come true without taking anything from anyone, without hurting anyone, and in a way that serves both us and the whole.

There is so much we can do, and so many souls we can reach. We will start within, by loving ourselves, and from there our vibration will spread far and wide, like sound waves through water.

Does distance Reiki really work?

Yes. Reiki energy works independently of physical distance, and its effect on the emotional, mental and spiritual bodies is as strong as in a face-to-face session. After their sessions my clients describe deep relaxation, lightness and a clearer mind. In a study published in 2023, frontline healthcare workers in the United Kingdom who received distance Reiki during the COVID-19 pandemic reported significantly less stress, anxiety and pain after their sessions, along with better wellbeing and sleep quality. All you need is a quiet, comfortable place at the time of your appointment. We begin with an opening conversation by video or by phone; then you lie down in a comfortable position and I start sending the Reiki energy. The rest is simply a matter of letting yourself receive.

No. We can hold the opening conversation by video or by phone; once I begin sending the energy, there is no need to stay connected.

Everyone’s experience is different. While lying down, you may notice warmth spreading through your body, a slight tingling in your hands or feet, or a deepening sense of relaxation; sometimes the mind simply goes still. Feeling nothing at all does not mean the energy has not reached you.

That is perfectly all right. As the body lets go, it is natural to drift into a deep, sleep-like rest, and the Reiki keeps reaching you whether you are awake or asleep.

With the opening conversation included, I suggest setting aside about an hour to an hour and a half. The part in which I send the energy usually lasts between 45 minutes and an hour.

Distance Reiki also supports people with physical complaints, but Reiki given close to the physical body works more strongly, so in that case I recommend a face-to-face session.

No. I give Reiki attunements in person, on my courses in London, Istanbul and Barcelona. A distance session is not an attunement: I send the energy and you simply receive it. Of course. I work with clients from all over the world, and we agree on a time for your session in your time zone. From the first conversation to the end, the session can be in English, Spanish or Turkish.
