Sound healing is one of the oldest ways of working with the body and mind. The vibration of the instruments touches you without touching you, and as it moves through you, body and mind sink into deep relaxation. In London I give one-to-one sound healing sessions with quartz crystal bowls in my space in Marylebone, at the Oxford Street end of Baker Street. On full moons and at the turning of the seasons, the same space hosts my group sound healing circles. I also often bring sound into my Reiki sessions in London.
What Is Sound Healing?
Sound healing is a broad name for many ways of working with sound and vibration. If you are looking for a sound bath in London, this is often the form you will first come across: you lie on a mat, close your eyes and let the sound of singing bowls, gongs or other instruments wash over you. Sound meditation is close to this; in it, the sound gives the mind one steady thing to follow, so that attention can turn inward. My own work is centred on quartz crystal singing bowls, which I play for one person at a time in one-to-one sound healing sessions, and for a group in my sound healing circles. Both are journeys in which we gently discover the transforming, healing power of sound.
Underneath all of this is a very old understanding: vibration can carry healing further than touch can. Used as a ritual, sound becomes a universal source of healing. Its frequencies and melodies reach the energy held deep in the body, loosen what has become blocked and help restore balance. It draws you towards a spiritual harmony in which body, mind and soul can open to the healing of vibration.
I trained in sound healing with quartz crystal bowls in Barcelona during the twenty years I lived between Spain and England. Since then I have built on that training, bringing the bowls together with my own voice, other instruments and Reiki. They also have a place on my Reiki training courses in London. My whole story is on my About page.
Some of the instruments and practices I bring to this work are:
- Quartz Crystal Bowls
- Mother Earth Drum
- Tibetan Cymbals
- Ney (Turkish Reed Flute)
- Sansula
- Our Own Voice
- Mantras
- Aura Cleansing
- Meditation
- Reiki Healing Energy
This work can happen one to one or in a group, and in both settings I invite you to express yourself through your own voice.
The Ney, Sufism and the Spiritual Dimension of Sound
Among the instruments I bring into a session, the ney carries one of the oldest spiritual languages. This simple reed flute has a special place in Sufi and Mevlevi music; for centuries, its sound has been associated with the soul’s longing to return to its source. For me, the ney is also the voice of the heart. There is something in its breathy, almost human sound that seems to soften what we hold there and gently open the heart. It brings a different quality from the quartz crystal bowls: barer, more intimate, sometimes like a call drawing you quietly back towards yourself.
Perhaps that is why I value bringing the ney into my work in London. The quartz bowls open a wide field of vibration; the ney enters that space like a single breath, carrying with it something of the Sufi tradition of Turkey, the country where I was born. I do not combine these instruments according to a fixed formula. I listen to the person, the room and the moment, and let each sound enter when it is needed.
Benefits of Sound Healing and Sound Baths
London is a city that is rarely quiet: traffic, the Underground, phones and full diaries keep the mind running long after the working day is over, and it can be hard to switch off even when you finally lie down. The long, even tone of a quartz crystal bowl gives the mind something steady to rest on. As the sound moves through the body, everyday thinking slows down and the body can let go into deep relaxation. For people who struggle to quieten their minds or to meditate, this opens a natural door.
- Deep relaxation and a calmer mind
- Easing stress and the mental tiredness of long, busy days
- A stronger sense of your body and a deeper way of listening inward
- An easier way into meditation, and a deeper one once you are there
- Room for emotions and energy to move more freely
- Coming back into contact with your inner world and your own essence
For me, sound is never just something in the background. It is a living field of vibration, and the body, the emotions and the energy all answer it at the same time.
What Happens in a Sound Healing Session?
My private sound bath in London is shaped entirely around you, with quartz crystal bowls at its centre. We begin by talking about how you are and what you need today. Then you lie down and make yourself comfortable, and I start with the quartz crystal bowls. Their vibration moves through your body in waves, and your thoughts begin to thin out without any effort on your part. As the session goes on, I bring in the Mother Earth drum, the Tibetan cymbals, the ney, the sansula and my own voice, each when it is needed, and I work with Reiki energy as well. You do not have to do anything except give yourself permission to receive. A session takes 60 minutes.
Sound Healing Circles
A circle is a different experience from a one-to-one session. The instruments and our own voices lead the whole group inward. Everyone takes part: we make healing sound together, we receive it together, and by staying in the present moment we learn how music and the voice can be used with a healing intention.
Part of each circle comes from the ceremonial teachings of the Indigenous peoples of South America, especially the circle of the Power of the Word. These teachings help each of us to connect with our own wisdom, to speak from the heart and to share from that place with the circle.
In a group, too, each person has my attention: during the circle I come to every participant in turn, and my wish is that everyone goes home deeply relaxed, peaceful and renewed.
The London circles meet on full moons and at the four turning points of the year: the winter and summer solstices and the spring and autumn equinoxes. These full moon and seasonal sound baths offer a natural moment to pause, turn inward and set a new intention together. My article on the winter solstice ceremony tells more about why these turning points matter to me. For the dates of the next circles in Marylebone, you are welcome to get in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a sound healing session last?
Allow 60 minutes for a one-to-one session, including our talk at the beginning. How long we work depends on what you need on the day.
Who is sound healing suitable for?
Anyone living with stress, a tired mind, poor sleep or an emotionally heavy time can find support in it. Some people come for none of these reasons; they simply want to use the power of sound to reach the deepest spiritual layers of themselves. You do not need to know anything about music or hold any particular belief, and there is no age limit.
Can I have a sound healing session in Turkish or Spanish?
Yes. Alongside English, I give sessions in Turkish, my mother tongue, and in Spanish, the language in which I first learned Reiki in Barcelona. London is home to many Turkish and Spanish speakers, and for some people it is easier to let go in their own language. Just tell me which language you prefer when you get in touch.
Does sound healing have any side effects?
Sound healing is generally a gentle practice, but every person responds differently. If you have epilepsy, a pacemaker or another heart device, are in the first trimester of pregnancy, have tinnitus or a strong sensitivity to sound, or are receiving care for a serious psychological condition, I ask you to check with your doctor or healthcare professional before your session and to let me know when we talk at the beginning.
Is a sound bath the same as sound healing?
They come from the same roots. In London, “sound bath” usually means a group listening experience: you lie on a mat and the sound washes over you. Sound healing is the wider term. In my one-to-one sessions, and in my circles too, the sound is accompanied by personal attention, aura cleansing, mantras and Reiki energy.
How should I prepare for a session?
Wear something comfortable. It helps not to eat a heavy meal just before you come, and to drink plenty of water afterwards. If you are coming straight from work, give yourself a few minutes to arrive; there is no need to rush.
What do you feel during a sound healing session?
Everyone experiences it in their own way. Many people feel deeply relaxed, notice the vibration moving through the body like waves and find their thoughts growing quieter. Sometimes feelings come up to the surface, and that is a natural part of the process as well.
Can sound healing and Reiki be received together?
Yes, and I often combine them. If you are looking for a sound bath with Reiki in London, my one-to-one sessions bring both practices into the same journey: the sound loosens the body and quietens the mind first, and Reiki then goes deeper into the space that has opened. If you would prefer a private Reiki sound bath centred entirely around you, my Reiki Session London page explains more about how I work with Reiki.
How can I join a sound healing circle?
My London circles meet in Marylebone on full moons and at the solstices and equinoxes. They have a lot in common with what many people in London call a full moon sound bath, with the circle of the Power of the Word and personal attention added. For the next dates, please write to me through the contact page.
Where in London do your sound healing sessions take place?
My private sound healing sessions and sound baths take place in my space in Marylebone, central London, at the southern end of Baker Street near Portman Square. If you come by Tube, Bond Street and Marble Arch are the closest stations, both a few minutes’ walk away. Baker Street station is at the far northern end of the street, so it is a longer walk from there. My contact page explains how to find me.
How much does a sound healing session cost in London?
One-to-one sessions and group circles are priced differently. Write to me through the contact page and I will send you the current fees and availability.
