What is Reiki?
The question ‘What is Reiki?’ can be answered by explaining it as the balanced flow of vital energy guided by spiritual energy. It is also a teaching that focuses on how to achieve this balance and how to transfer this state to others.
Reiki is the art of healing through the transfer of cosmic energy, either by hands or remotely.It is a serene dance between universal energies and the human essence, conducted by a practitioner who serves as a conduit, channeling subtle vibrations through touch or proximity. It’s a holistic art form that harmonizes the body’s energy flow, encouraging balance, restoration, and a deep sense of tranquility within the recipient.
Practitioners usually use their hands to channel this energy, placing them lightly on or near the recipient’s body. Reiki was taught in the temples and monasteries of the old civilizations of Lemuria, Atlantis, Egypt and Tibet.
Reiki Symbols
Mikao Usui, a Buddhist priest in Japan, rediscovered Reiki towards the end of the 19th Century. He received his attunement to Reiki energy as a blessing from the Universe at the end of a 21 day self-seclusion on top of the Kurama Mountain in Japan. He received the vision of and the initiation to the sacred geometry symbols that humans have in their DNA when they are in total balance.
Reiki symbols are used in Reiki initiaitons or sessions to synchronise the energies of the receptor with higher vibrational universal ones. They are parts of sacred geometry that exist within the wholeness of every being on Earth.
Reiki is in the genetic code of humans, so for this reason, it is a tool that we have within us from birth, that we can use intuitively. The human being has always intuitively put their hand where it hurts. The mothers have always calmed their children by caressing them. As Reiki is an inner wisdom, it always shows us the ways of channelling itself. The touch of a human being consists of compassion, healing power and Love. However in this age, the human being has become the slave of their earthly addictions, their desires; such as possessiveness and greed, while going further away from our inner-wisdom source.
What Does Reiki Mean in a Spiritual Journey?
Reiki is not just a practice; it is actually a way of life. In addition to the ability to direct the flow of energy, it allows individuals to know themselves and embark on a spiritual journey. At the core of Reiki lies the individual’s ability to regain faith in themselves and view life from a perspective filled with love. Feeling and directing energy opens the doors to personal awareness. Reiki, in a sense, is a mirror that helps a person connect with their essence. When you look into this mirror, you can see with clarity who you are and what you possess.
Connection with Your Essence
We start receiving reiki energy as soon as we are in our mother´s womb. It is a natural power that we have. Whilst we do not have fear in the first phase of our childhood, the warnings that adults direct at us, such as “don’t do that, you will hurt yourself”, “you are a bad boy, you are a naughty girl”, make us begin to lose our personal power. The child really begins to believe that they are bad and naughty. They start to learn to have fear and that something bad might happen to them. It is in this way where illness finds its way into our system; through fear and the lack of self-appreciation!
A person spends all their life pressuring themselves to stay within the limits that they were taught to create constantly. This is because if they stay within those limits, they feel that they will deserve the love of their surroundings by being a “good girl or boy”.
When one starts to work with Reiki energy, this personal power that has been lost or forgotten, reactivates and the person connects with their own essence. This power within the essence is never lost again during a person´s life. The person REMEMBERS from their own wisdom that the limits that are placed on them by others, are nothing but an illusion and they remember that nothing is impossible.
Because you are the child of Mother Earth and Father Sun, with a soul that is eternal. Reiki helps you reconnect with this inner bond.
